Setup

Connect your AI tool

An Article Galaxy account with MCP access is required. Choose your platform and follow its connection steps.

MCP server

https://mcp.articlegalaxy.com/ag/mcp
ChatGPTAdd Article Galaxy as an app in ChatGPT, then sign in with your account.
  1. 1Open the Article Galaxy app in ChatGPT and select Add or Install. If your organization manages ChatGPT, an administrator may need to approve it first.
  2. 2Sign in with your Article Galaxy credentials when prompted.
  3. 3Mention @ArticleGalaxy in a prompt, or ask a question about a paper and ChatGPT will use it.

Example prompt

@ArticleGalaxy check whether I can access DOI 10.1038/s41586-020-2012-7
Microsoft CopilotTurn on the Article Galaxy connector inside Copilot, or add it from the Microsoft marketplace.
  1. 1First check inside Copilot: open the apps or plugins panel (in Microsoft 365 Copilot, select the plugin icon in the message box, or Apps in the left rail) and search for Article Galaxy. Many organizations have already deployed it, so it may be there waiting to be switched on.
  2. 2If it is not listed, open the Microsoft marketplace listing below and select Get it now. On a company account your Microsoft 365 administrator may need to approve it in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
  3. 3Sign in with your Article Galaxy credentials when prompted.

Example prompt

Find recent papers on mRNA vaccine stability and show which ones I can access.
Claude.aiAdd the Article Galaxy server as a custom connector.
  1. 1Open Settings, then Connectors, and select Add custom connector.
  2. 2Name it Article Galaxy and paste https://mcp.articlegalaxy.com/ag/mcp as the URL, then select Add.
  3. 3Select Connect and complete the Article Galaxy sign-in in the browser window.
  4. 4In a new chat, open the tools menu in the message box and make sure Article Galaxy is on. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds the connector in Organization settings first, and members then select Connect.

FAQ

Common questions

What is Article Galaxy MCP?

It is a secure connection between an MCP-compatible AI assistant and Article Galaxy. It lets the assistant check literature availability, access options, rights, pricing, and order status using the same account permissions as the researcher.

Who can use it?

Article Galaxy customers whose accounts have MCP access enabled can connect. Each researcher authenticates individually rather than sharing credentials with an AI tool.

Can teams use the MCP?

Yes. Team members connect with their own Article Galaxy accounts, so access and activity remain associated with the appropriate user.

How does article pricing work?

The same access options and pricing available in Article Galaxy are returned through the MCP. The AI tool shows the available path and asks for confirmation before a paid order is placed.

How do I upgrade my MCP plan?

Reach out to our Customer Support team (customersupport@researchsolutions.com) for help.

Does Article Galaxy send a publisher’s content to train an AI model?

No. Article Galaxy does not train a model through the MCP or grant bulk access to publisher content. Additional AI or TDM rights are required when a researcher wants to use licensed content for those purposes.
